Cobb), and you may an excellent scuffling celebrity (Evelyn Keyes) whoever cousin (Nina Foch) has worked at the local casino and you will dated an excellent corrupt investigator (Jim Bannon). The fresh new caustically epigrammatic program, the new cast’s suavely regulated body language out of love and you can threat, and you can Rossen’s thrillingly restrained and you can fashionably cocky photo (plus his political conscience) get this to pugnacious yet detailed spectacle a low profile vintage of category.” [ ten ]

Evelyn Keyes performs the great absolutely nothing woman exactly who brings forth the fresh finest in your and you may Ellen Received is the easy and slinky vixen whom will get him for the jams. Thomas Gomez was oily given that villain and you may Lee J. Cobb do a unique in a position trip because the a tired police inspector which eventually closes the scenario.
